West Coast Barbados Holidays

A quiet beach, Barbados

Barbados’ west coast is home to the islands’ luxury resorts. The hotels are stylish and elegant, and the main town – Holetown – has upmarket shops and restaurants.
The most popular beaches in the area are St James and Sandy Lane – the latter is home to the famous Sandy Lane Hotel.
East Coast Barbados Holidays
The east coast is less developed compared to the west coast and has small fishing villages interspersed with beaches. The water is rougher as the coast faces the Atlantic Ocean and the area is popular with surfers.
The main beach on the coast is Bathsheba, which has a number of hotels. However, the sea is colder and currents are stronger so unless you are an avid surfer this side of island may not be for you.
South Coast Barbados Holidays
The south coast has the warm waters and calm seas of Caribbean (unlike the east coast) and is more lively and family friendly than the exclusive west coast.
St Lawrence Gap is the focal point of the south coast and has some of the best nightlife on the island. The surrounding beaches, including Dover Beach and Maxwell Beach have lots of resorts. The area is good for water sports – in particular kitesurfing and windsurfing.
